Verse of the Week #20 (1 Peter 4:1)

Hello guys, I'm sorry I haven't been blogging lately, I have been busy. I'm back and I will be bringing more content. Time for this week's verse.

"Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin." -1 Peter 4:10 (NKJV)

Cease from sin. Live up to the title of "Christian". You are supposed to be like Christ. Even though this may seem like a harsh calling, we are called to it by our Lord, Jesus.

Verse of the Week #19 (Psalm 106:3)

Hey guys I'm back with another verse of the week. This time I picked a verse from the Psalms.

"Blessed are those who keep justice,
And he who does righteousness at all times!" -Psalm 106:3 (NKJV)

If you get discouraged in your walk...remember that you are blessed for living in a Godly way.

Verse of the Week #18 (Matthew 5:44)

I picked this verse because my girlfriend inspired me to. This verse is so convicting and really leads me to be a better Christian...

"But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you" -Matthew 5:44 (NKJV)

Live by this.

Update + Video of the Week #13 (Freerunning)

Well everyone, if you were wondering why I haven't made any posts recently it's because I just got back from the beach. I went there just to stare at the sun with sand in my pants and spend some time with the people I love. I am happy to tell you that I am back and have spent the day watching videos on youtube and packing...the slight downside to the packing is that I am leaving tomorrow morning for the windy city (Chicago...) Real early.

So I am sorry to tell you that I will not be making more blog posts till around sunday-monday. I hope I don't disappoint you guys too much.

But I will tell you this, I have a surprise change coming rather soon to my blog as well as a new youtube channel coming out. So you guys have some good things coming your way!

So as my parting gift for this week I'll leave you with my deliberately hand picked video of the week. Enjoy.

Over the past couple months I have grown interested in parkour and freerunning, this video is a great example of how sick they can be. I'll keep you updated in the future on what's going on!

Verse of the Week #17 (1 Thessalonians 4:1)

Hey everyone, today's verse of the week comes from Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians. This passage speaks to the christians in Thessolonica regarding their spiritual walk.

"Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God." -I Thessalonians 4:1 (NKJV)

This verse stuck out to me mainly because of the phraseology used: "...to please God." These specific words emphasized in my mind the fact that we out to have the heart's desire to love God and please him, rather than follow a set of the rules primarily for the rewards and lack of punishment. Our heart's desire ought to be to please God in our deeds, rather than just conforming to a set of rules out self service/preservation. This verse should cause all of us to really desire to please God.

Verse of the Week #16 (Colossians 2:6)

For this verse of the week I've picked section from Colossians that speaks of our Christian walk.

"As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him..." - Colossians 2:6 (NKJV)

This is a short verse, but it applies to every single Christian. Have you received Christ? If so, you must walk in him. Jesus said if you love me, you will follow my commandments. We must all keep that in mind as we live out our life.

Morning Dew

Well guys, it has been quite a while since I have uploaded any photography, but I was inspired this morning while I was washing some dishes to take a picture of this special plant outside. Somehow it just struck me a certain way, and I thought it to be quite intriguing. I ran and grabbed my camera, snapped some shots, and uploaded them. Here is one of the best ones.

I'm not exactly sure what this plant is, but it looks quite beautiful with the water droplets creating mini lenses. Very stunning. If you'd like to see more of my photography, let me know!

Verse of the Week #15 (Colossians 4:2)

Today we have a reminder of one of the most significant parts of our christian walk: Prayer. As other verses tell us in addition to this one, we should be praying without ceasing, giving thanks, and requesting things of God.

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving." Colossians 4:2 (NKJV)

Just be reminded today of the importance of prayer.

Verse of the Week #14 (Isaiah 12:2)

Today we have a verse from one of the major prophets: Isaiah. This is a clear description of the Lord given from a man with much spiritual insight.

"Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lordis my strength and song; He also has become my salvation." Isaiah 12:2

Verse of the Week #13 (II Corinthians 4:18)

Hey everyone! It's been a little while since I made a blog post but here I'm back with this weeks verse!

"While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." II Corinthians 4:18 (NKJV)

Let this be a reminder to us all that the spiritual realm is so much more significant than the physical.

Beauty

Makeup. Expensive Clothes. Hairstyles. Tanning Salons. Manicures. Pedicures. Hair Dyes. Lotions. Shoes. Plastic Surgery. Jewelry. Eating Disorders. Straighteners. Cosmetics. Diet Plans. The list goes on...and on...

If you haven't noticed yet, the thirst for beauty in our world is one of the strongest driving forces of culture. Women spend their entire life striving to improve their beauty. Some women are considered gorgeous, and others are very homely looking. Even though all are people are valuable, it may seem that despite how much we wish it to be otherwise, some women have "it" and others not so much.

So the thought comes to mind, "Is it fair?" I mean, if beauty is one of the most sought after things in the world, and some women just don't have it no matter how much effort they give, is it really fair?

Are some girls just doomed to never be captivating?

The answer to this question goes deeper than what people really realize. Many a social reformer has tried to combat the emotionally crippling, esteem debilitating problem of self image.

Some of these cultural reformers go about this problem by saying that beauty is a complete non-issue. They would say that that the superficial appearance is so insignificant that it should not be acknowledged. Others, in a more mainstream way, have tried to say that every woman is equally beautiful. No woman stands out in their beauty, but all are gorgeous in their own way. What is so sad...is that neither really helps those who struggle...because no matter how hard they try and believe what they hear, they realize that deep down inside they can't compare to those specially stunning people. Culture is inching closer and closer to equalizing everything. Everyone is the same. You are perfect the way you are. There is no reason to distinguish people in their own strong traits. Despite all of that, the people who lack physical beauty know that they just can't match up...

It is truly upsetting, because even after all these attempts...women are even more pressured in their attempts to make themselves the "most beautiful woman ever". After all rescue attempts on the culture, the problem has just gotten even worse. Many women of all ages suffer from depression, social exclusion, and suicidal tendencies due to self image.

So what....really....is the answer?

The answer to this ever growing problem can be found from the Bible, God's written word. Peter, an apostle of the Lord wrote primary to this issue.

Do NOT let your adornment be merely outward: arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel; rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves." -I Peter 3:3-5 (NKJV)

Peter's writing is completely counter culture, but not in the sense that some say. For example, some say that it is wrong for women to wear nice clothes, makeup, jewelry, or other beauty products. Inspired by the Holy Spirit to write these things, Peter was not saying that at all. Women in the Bible in multiple places adorned themselves while being in accordance with God's will.

"I clothed you in embroidered cloth and gave you sandals of badger skin; I clothed you with fine linen and covered you with silk. I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck. And I put a jewel in your nose, earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head. Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth." -Ezekiel 16:10-13
* I is God
*You is Jerusalem

Even though this is a metaphor for God's love for Jerusalem, it clearly exemplifies how God feels about adornments and physical appearance.

So now that we know Peter is not speaking about completely disregarding outward beauty, what does he really mean? Peter is simply saying that the true, important beauty of a woman is her inner person. He speaks of her,"hidden person of the heart" and,"the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit". Peter's goal in writing this is to shift our primary attention from the outward beauty to the inward condition of the heart.

That is the main solution. Change your focus of energy, frustration, attention, and determination to improving the person of your heart. For as both you and I know, our bodies can only change so much. Some people are gifted physically more than others and that's just  the way it is sometimes. Thanks be to the Lord that we all can devote ourselves to improving our inner person till the day we die. If you find your confidence and self esteem in your character, the physical problems will become secondary and almost insignificant.

A beautiful example of this in the Bible that recently caught my attention was the story of Ruth. As Ruth, a poor Moabitess was gleaning in the field, she met Boaz, an Israelite. Ruth caught Boaz's attention for a very special reason.

"And Boaz answered and said to her, 'It has been fully reported to me, all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people whom you did not know before. The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.'Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?'" -Ruth 2:10-11 (NKJV)

Ruth did not stand out to Boaz for her beauty but for her wonderful heart. If you know the book of Ruth, it is a touching love story which results in the marriage of Ruth and Boaz who are then are used by God in the lineage of Jesus Christ. This story just goes to show how important it is to be recognized and singled out for your inward beauty.

So you ask again, how can people in a culture so centered around physical beauty have hope and joy even if they themselves are not beautiful?

The answer is to develop your identity in who you are on the inside and treat your outward appearance as an augmentation. The next time you compare yourself to someone who is much more beautiful than you, remember what truly matters and focus on improving your inner self. Contrawise, to those who look down on those who are not as outwardly blessed, remember that outward appearance is transient, but the inner person of the heart matters eternally. The more I read the Bible and grow the more I realize what a massive separation the Lord draws between the physical realm and the spiritual realm. Change your focus to the unseen things and everything will make more sense.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day." -II Corinthians 4:16

Verse of the Week #11 (Revelation 2:10)

One thing I have to constantly remind myself in my life is to be not be fearful of persecution and hardship. Bad things happen to good people, but the word of the Lord really helps us. This is a verse from the Revelation given to John at the end of his life.

"Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life."- Revelation 2:10 (NKJV)

Stockpiling #9 (Survival)

Let's just say...minecraft is awesome. I have a survival world that I've been playing and updating this blog on, and I've been having a LOT of fun.

So far I wasted a ton of time and built a titanic tower, gathered too many resources, established routes through the nether and more. What was once a house has now turned into a mini-colony. I have made many advances since about a week ago. Most of them are in resource gathering and tool improvements.

My improvements include:

  • Improved stone paths around the colony
  • Organized mining area, reached by a nether transportation system
  • Dock and bridge at the nearby river

  • Respiration III, Protection II, Aqua Affinity I diamond helmet
  • Protection IV diamond chest plate
  • Fire Protection IV diamond leggings
  • Feather Falling IV, Protection II diamond boots
  • Sharpness III, Knock-back III, Fire Aspect II, Looting III diamond sword
  • Power IV, Flame I, Punch II bow

  • Additional anti-creeper cat sentries
  • Silk touch and Fortune III picks
  • 85 diamonds
  • 5 stacks of gold ingots
  • 6 stacks of iron ingots

Thats pretty much all the improvements I've made, save a few little tid-bits of un-newsworthy material. I've had a lot of fun making these improvements. Also, if you were wondering, the only was I was able to enchant my weapons so high was by using my zombie/skeleton grinder I made. Other than that, there is not much else to say! Like, comment, share, and above all else...please give some feedback, thanks!

Verse of the Week #10 (James 3:10)

Sorry if this is a late one guys, but I was busy today and couldn't get to my blog till late. This verse was one that I read while moving through the Old Testament in my readings. The context is about the power of the tongue and it's evilness.

"Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so." -James 3:10 (NKJV)

I think this is one of those verses that almost all of us should stop and consider in our own lives. I know I need to change how I speak and continually be aware of what I say and how I say it. Let this be a warning and a guide to all of us who want to better ourselves and follow God's word! Go and read the whole passage regarding the tongue and our words. It helped me, I hope it helps you.

Canyon's Edge

About three years ago, the guys in my family went on a hardcore hiking trip into the mountains, we brought tents, few clothes, water purifiers, and other accessories we needed to survive. It was time for us to prove our man cards!

We hiked up mountains, crossed spring streams, set up camp, and gathered wood. As I gathered wood I noticed a deep, crystal clear, melt-off stream next to our camp. When we had everything set up, I stripped down and went swimming in it. As I jumped in my heart nearly stopped. The water was near freezing and had ice around the edges....After about 5 minutes I raced out and dried off by a fire with a handkerchief. It was such a crazy experience but there was much more in store for us. The next day as we were hiking, we reached one of our goals, to see one of the largest canyons in America!

In the afternoon sunlight, the limestone in some areas glowed but the bottom of the canyon was near shrouded in darkness. It was a remarkable scene not easily forgotten. Reaching +700ft in some areas, this canyon was astounding to see. To be able to stand on its edge and look straight down was a scary thing.

This view, though not obvious, is a straight +600ft drop off to the river below. It was an exhilarating moment to get this photo. As I took this photo, my hand was shaking so bad I nearly dropped the camera. It was so crazy, but so worth it.

A great trip, an awesome experience, and a crazy bunch of photos!

Verse of the Week #9 (Hebrews 12:1)

I know one thing for sure. This life is not easy. I have to constantly remind what to do, what I'm here for, and who I'm doing things for. This verse is a wonderful reminder of what God wants out of Christians. It sure helps me, I pray it helps you.

Verse of the Week #8 ( II Timothy 2:22)

Today's verse of the week comes from the book of II Timothy.

"Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart." II Timothy 2:22 (NKJV)

This is a simple verse, reminding us of some of the fundamentals to a christian life: the absence of evil desires, righteousness, faith, love, and peace. It also reminds to be at peace with others who call on the Lord with a "pure heart". It does not mention wether or not they believe the same doctrines, act the same way, or have the same convictions. But if the call on the Lord with a "pure heart", we should be at peace with them.

Personally, I can think of many who call on the Lord out of a pure heart, yet I could very easily create problems with. When I had read this verse a while back, it convicted me. This verse should have an impact on all of us!

Love

There are so many ideas floating around about love. Singers, painters, and writers through out the ages have tried to describe somehow what exactly love is, yet have failed to show its fullness.

What is love?

Is love a feeling you get when you see a pretty girl in your class?

Is love an overwhelming rush of blood in an intimate moment?

Is love jumping in front of a bullet for someone?

Is love being attracted to someone?

Is love sacrifice?

Is love some of these?

Is love all of these?

Over there years I have heard a lot about this topic. There are so many different beliefs, opinions, fears, and biases it's hard to distinguish what the truth is about...love. You would think the most spoken about topic in the history of the world would be the most understood. It is almost the opposite... Some, at the age of 13, say with absolute certainty that they will never be loved for reasons that seem ridiculous. Others end up saying they found their true love multiple different times during their life. So what is really true about love?

As a christian...I believe what the Bible says about love.

"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." - I Corinthians 13:4-7 (NKJV)

Being in a serious relationship myself, I agree with this scripture, especially because my own of experience. I can personally say that every one of the characteristics of true love listed above is a requirement in a healthy relationship.

Love Suffers Long and is Kind

There have been many times in my relationship where it just gets tiring. You have a headache, you had a bad day, and you don't really know how to comfort someone you love. This is when it is really important to stay in the game. Its easy to love someone when everything is going well, but when you are on your last string, your true love comes out. It is in those circumstances that our deepest love is seen and our kindness is the most heartfelt.

Love Does not Envy

When you are with the one you love, you end up seeing all the opportunities, talents, and possessions that they have, and it's easy to think, "They have everything going for them, I don't see what they have to complain about." This can start a process of jealousy and self pity. No matter who you are and what kind of relationship you are in, it is necessary to be content with your own standing. If you go down that road of envy it will lead to backbiting, subversive competition, and bitterness. It is so important to focus on improving yourself and loving the other person, even if certain things may seem better for them.

Love is not Puffed Up

Over time in relationship a deadly process creeps in....the process of gloating and tearing down one another. Everyone at some point in time has bragged so much over something that they just knew they had hurt their friend's feelings...our job is not to corrode away someones being, our job is to help, support and encourage. It is so easy to make biting remarks about superiority and in the process we only end up distancing the relationship and straining the love. Love was never meant to be a competition. Love was meant to be a partnership. As men and women we MUST focus on humility and building each other up no matter how much it may seem against everything we feel at the moment.

Love Does not Seek its Own

When you just enter a relationship with someone, you are ALL about them: buying roses, taking them out to eat, hugging them all the time, calling them, and serving them in any way you can. If any of you have been with someone for a long time, you know that this does not come so easily as time progresses. When you have seen the best and worst of someone for 10 years, it is not so easy to serve them and love them. As time goes on, your focus slowly changes from them, right back to yourself. I've been there myself and let me tell you guys, it is a miserable place to be. If we TRULY love the other person our goal must be to serve them and help them, even if it means sacrificing our time, money, and pride.

Love Endures All Things

We have all been in public and seen a elderly couple feebly holding hands It is hard to see those kind of people and not respect their love that has lasted the the corrosion of time. You can only wonder how many fights, tears, and pain they must have gone through, yet you look at them and their love remains strong as if they had just fallen in love 6 months ago. The key to a loving, long relationship is patience and endurance. When we love someone it is a requirement of us to overlook problems with the other person and just endure hardship. Disagreements, fights, and contention should never interfere with the deep love that connects the two.

-----------------------------------------

No matter who we are, if we match ourselves up with these characteristics of true love, we fall short. I myself work every day of my life trying to love my girl better in every way, and it is a battle. But it is so worth it. Love is not about looks. Love is not about feelings, because they come and go. Love is about sacrifice, perseverance, service, and a burning flame of passion that never grows dim. No matter who you are, where you are from, or what you believe, love for others is one thing that will hold us together and direct us to a higher goal.

Verse of the Week #7 (Revelation 22:17)

Today's verse of the week is in the very last chapter of the Bible: Revelation 22. Written by John, Revelation is a book of prophecy, and...well...revelations from God =P This verse is describing the condition of those who God choses to enter his eternal rest.

"And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely" Revelation 22:17 (NKVJ)

Thank God that our life doesn't end at death. Those who live a righteous life following Jesus are promised a home where you can drink of the water of life for eternity! When times are getting tough or discouraging, and death would seem sweeter than life, just remember that for us Christians, we have a beautiful home awaiting us. For those of you who can't say that, you can repent and follow Christ today!

Quote of the Week #6 (Ryan Higa)

Today it's time to quote one of the most famous youtubers of all time...Antoine Dodson........................or Ryan Higa...I think...

Anyways, it's time to step back, take a break, and look through the eyes of a virulent pessimist! (I don't know him personally, so I don't know this. He's probably not.....)

"I'm a pessimistic person, I see the glass as half empty even when it's full."- Ryan Higa

So when times seem pretty good, they are probably not as good as you think they are. They aren't really that great of times if you think about. In fact, they are probably extremely average times. Actually...they might be minimally above-the-bar times. Actually...your times are terrible, deal with it. =]

I'm just kidding guys. Don't be pessimists....studies show that it's bad for your health! Join me and have an annoyingly optimistic outlook on life!

Techno Drumming With a Broken Collarbone - Luke Snyder Drums

Check out one of my brother's videos he just posted. He is a musician, composer, drummer, and teacher.

And if you didn't notice. His shoulder is broken. Yet he still plays...idiot. Soo sick though.

Check out his channel too, subscribe, like, share. He uploads music, drum lessons, and other stuff on a regular basis!

That's all guys!

Verse of the Week #6 (Psalm 30:5)

This week has been flying by, it's already Wednesday, time for our weekly Bible verse. Today it's from the book of Psalms.

"For his anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." -Psalm 30:5 (NKJV)

Thank God this is true...I concur with the writer (David) on this one...God does get angry, he does let bad things happen, but the truth is that time and time again he revives us and picks us up. So during this week remember that even though things may seem terrible at the moment, God brings you through and there may be a bright day if you would endure through the night! Have a good day everyone!

The Colony Grows (Survival #7)

It has been about a week since I gave you guys the sneak peak on what's going on in my survival world. Here is the moment that you've all been waiting for, the Blogger World update!

I did a LOT of construction, resource gathering, building blueprints, and more. All of that, and two or so weeks worth of work has yielded this: my massive survival tower!

Besides the sheer size of the structure, stretching far past the clouds, I updated many other things in this world. Features include:
  • A chicken farm
  • Interior decoration for multiple levels (shows the kitchen)

  • A nether portal
  • Larger stockpile of diamonds, gold, and iron
  • A pink sheep farm (found two pink sheep during my explorations)
  • Organized storage room
  • Located ocelots
  • An elegant bedroom
  • Explored nearby land
  • Created an magic room (enchanting, potions, and nether portal)
  • Bred wolf and ocelot guardians positioned around my territory for protection

There it is, my progress for you guys in the Blogger World! I hope you all enjoy it. My next steps in the future are going to be: Locate a nether fortress, locate abandoned mineshafts, and make a nether portal transportation system. If my itinerary changes I'll let you guys know in the next progress post. If enough people ask for the world file, I will end up sharing it later on. Well that's all guys, never dig down!

Quote of the Week #5 (Anne Frank)

Today is a slow day; a day in which it's easy for us to be unthankful and look at life as if it's not worth living. Thankfully, it's monday, time to remember what people thought about life who went before us, and learn from them. This quote is from the Holocaust victim: Anne Frank.

"Think if all the beauty left around you and be happy" -Anne Frank

Coming from a young woman who lived in one of the worst environments in the history of earth, this quote carries a lot of weight. Next time we want to complain about our terrible, underprivileged lives, join me and remember what this young woman said.

Be thankful for what you do have, and remember, all good gifts come from God.

Nature Up Close

I prepared for school today with two shirts and a leather jacket expecting it to be cold...by the end of the day I was sweating...Spring is coming!

Spring brings all the new plant and animal life that we see springing up around us. Since I enjoy doing photography, I wanted to show you guys one of those pictures I ran across the other day thats been hidden on my hard drive. This one was even my desktop for a while. I'm interested in macro photography. (extremely close up pictures) This picture is a close up view of nature that is very interesting. See if you can guess what exactly it is in the comments!

It's moss

I took this picture while I was out taking a hike with my camera. I have a lot more of these sort of photos, like or share it to let me know you guys want more of these type of things!

Verse of the Week #5 (James 1:4)

It's getting late, but it's wednesday all the same! Time for this week's verse. I've decided to pick one from the book of James. This verse is here to remind us that our bad behavior isn't excusable, we must strive for the perfection of a Jesus-like character. James helps us with a valuable fruit of the spirit: patience.

"But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." James 1:4 (NKJV)

This verse is a wonderful motivation to discouraged Christians. Through God's power we can be complete! To understand better the setting of this verse, go ahead and read the entire book of James. It has a lot of practical commands for christians in this life. Ask God to help you live by these rules and he will help you become "perfect and complete, lacking nothing."
